Sermon Text for Sunday May 9
The main text will be Matthew 25:14-30. A related text will be 1 Peter 4:7-11. I'll let you try to make the connection between now and Sunday. Don't forget to be thinking about the ways God has gifted you to serve. Please pray fo me as I prepare. Love you all. Gavin
This should be a really good lesson at this point and time in our curriculum. I ran across an old proverb that might fit in somewhere:
For the want of a nail, a shoe was lost For the want of a shoe, a horse was lost For the want of a horse, a rider was lost For the want of a rider, a battle was lost For the want of a battle, a kingdom was lost All for the want of a nail
This shows us that a talent that is not used, no matter how small, could have a significant effect on our life, our congregagtion, the church, and the kingdom. We all need to be encouraged to use whatever talents we may have.
David
I regret to say that Judy and I will be missing services this Sunday as we will be attending services in Yukon with Steven and Cassie. Paula and Emma Jo will be going with us as well. Our prayers are with you that the lesson will go well.
And what feeble excuses we use to void doing what we know the be right. How funny we push and strain to do what we want and then are too tired to do what God wants. Reminds me of the balance illustration Josh used recently when we examined the use of our time. Use of talents is much the same. We hide them because it might interfere with what we want to do. How do we bring our wants more in line with Gods so our talents are useful?
