Bulletin Article

Just thought I would give you all a preview of this weeks bulletin article and give you a chance to make comments and give your thoughts.

Josh

What if my hands and feet did not belong to me?

What if for one day, my hands and feet did not belong to me?
And instead, God controlled all my coming, going and doing.
That morning I would awaken early to a foreign feeling,
My hands and feet moving of their own accord,
Pulling me out of bed and taking me to where I was supposed to be.

With the Bible open before my tired eyes,
I would sit and read, drinking in the holy melodies,
Telling me wondrous stories of a God who loves me,
And then they would pull me down, shut my eyes, my hands clasping,
Preparing for the day when my hands and feet did not belong to me.

To work I go with a whole new perspective coursing through my veins.
The customers sense that something is now different.
When faced with frustrating situations, my hands cover my mouth,
My feet take me away to the picture on the wall that says, “Love one another.”
Then they bring me to the counter with a promise to go back if I don’t change my ways.

On this day when my hands and feet no longer belong to me,
I go to lunch and sit with the outcast instead of my friends.
I treat people with respect as if they are more important than me.
On the way home instead of stopping by the coffee shop,
I visit the local nursing home seeking to bring blessing to someone’s day.

At the end of these twelve hours I begin to realize something very important.
Today should be no different than any other day.
I proclaim to be a Christ follower yet I steal the time that no longer belongs to me,
Using it for pleasure and leisure and my own special activity.
When instead I should be proclaiming Christ to the world for his honor and glory.
